Each year, in recognition of International Corporate Philanthropy Day, the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Office for Partnerships, in conjunction with CECP, host a special program on opportunities for philanthropy to help advance the Millennium Development Goals. The February 28, 2011 event focused on Millennium Development Goal 2, commitments in regard to Universal Primary Education. In particular, two priority areas were addressed which can benefit from the involvement of philanthropic organizations and the private sector:
  1. enabling access for children, both boys and girls alike, to a full course of primary schooling; and
  2. promoting education and training in the world of work
